Google Play Instant – Try Android Games Before Downloading

Google Play Instant

Android Instant Apps, the project launched back in 2016, is changing the way people are used to using Android Apps. They are fast and eats less space on the device.  Google Play Instant is the latest development in the series. Android Games, nowadays are much bigger in size, sometimes in Gigabytes. Some are mind-blowing but some make us regret the decision of downloading them.  In order to solve this decision-making problem, Android Team is here with Google Play Instant which lets us preview or download a mini version of the game before actually downloading the whole game. This mini version could be a just a first level or could be a tutorial, that’s currently up to the game developer.

Currently, this feature is available with a few Android Games such as Words With Friends 2, Clash Royale, NYTimes Crossword, Mighty Battles and more. Check the screenshots below.

The first pic is from Google Play Games App. You can access all the Instant Games from the Arcade screen. Slide it to the left and you’ll have a list of all instant games. The second and third screenshots are from Google Play Store. You can see the new ‘Try Now’ option. That lets you play the game before you actually download it.

You can find the whole list of Google Instant Games at Instant Gameplay. Well, I tried it and have recorded a video of it that you can find below. It’s pretty solid and definitely a better experience just like Google Go. Current it has a limited number of games but sooner or later, the ‘Arcade’ is going to be filled with such Instant Games. It’s really amazing experience. It lets us save a lot of time and data.

Play Instant Games are available now as part of a closed beta, but as per Google, it plans on “opening it more broadly later in the near future”.
