Google Instant Search Timeline
Several years after Google launched Google Instant Search a.k.a “fundamental shift in search” in 2010 under the leadership of Marissa Mayer, they had killed the default search feature last year to bring search more inline with mobile devices. But’s the ‘Google Instant’ feature back on Android with the brand new Google Go app. It’s fast, sleek and sexy!
How to get Google Instant Search
You can download it from Google Play Store. Just 5 MB file size and over a million download already! It shows you the search result as you type the keyword. That’s instant. It works even on slow internet connections. One cool feature is that you can select a text from anywhere on your Android and search it using Google Go directly from there!
I would like to point out one thing here though, it shows all the recent search keywords for fast access, in case, you want to search for them again! Yes, that’s scrollable!
Google Instant Search cool features!
You can use your voice to search. Speak into the phone after tapping the Mic button! This is really cool and fast for those who are addicted to voice search feature! You might need to train it for your voice, if not already! It also shows latest trending searches right on your Android screen to keep you updated about the world!
As a matter of fact, it already has some bookmarks like YouTube, Twitter, Instagram etc. Also if you see there is an option ‘More’ on the home screen. That will take you to the Apps page. It has all the major websites and application shortcuts be it a social website or entertainment or anything like Amazon, eBay & Flipkart. It also has Apps & Games for some leisure time. The fourth tab is Sports for sports lover! Cool, right?
How Google Instant Search takes over Google Assitant!
Truth to be told, I’ve removed the Google Assistant App after I discovered this app. It doesn’t eat battery(pay heed Google Assistant! Seems like it needs some improvement.). It eats up less storage. Plus it’s super fast, credit goes to Google Instant Search! Changing background wallpaper is an easy task. Go to customize tab in settings and choose the image. Done! You can even enable data saver or switch on the safe search option there under the general tab!
